King Conservation District is pleased to announce that Rebecca Lavigne has been hired to serve as Interim Executive Director.
With interim leadership in place, KCD begins the next chapter for better ground. Rebecca will support the continuity of KCD’s programs and services while facilitating internal work to position the organization for an even stronger future. The interim role also allows the Board of Supervisors needed time and space to prepare for conducting a search for permanent executive leadership.
Known as a thoughtful and collaborative strategic leader, Rebecca brings 15 years of experience guiding organizations and teams through times of growth, change, and transition. She also draws on more than 15 years of conservation experience in King County and Washington state, including leading community engagement programs and building public-private partnerships.
Her past community work focused on regional food systems and community agriculture. Raised in King County, Rebecca is deeply committed to creating an equitable and healthy future for our region.
Since joining KCD at the September board meeting, Rebecca is already rolling up her sleeves alongside board and staff to address the challenges and opportunities facing KCD during these unprecedented times. We look forward to keeping KCD partners and the broader community updated during this time of transition.
About King Conservation District
King Conservation District (KCD) is a natural resources assistance agency authorized by Washington State and guided by the Washington State Conservation Commission. Our mission is to promote the sustainable use of natural resources through responsible stewardship. A five-member Board of Supervisors is responsible for overseeing all KCD programs and activities.
Since 1949, KCD has been helping the people of King County manage their natural resources. KCD staff educate landowners, schools, scientists, consultants and agencies in how to recognize problem situations and how to avoid creating them. KCD also provides technical assistance in solving their problems.
At KCD, they are all about better ground. Better ground means taking important stewardship actions at home and in our communities to create healthy soil and water, to provide healthy food, and to conserve land, water, forests, wildlife and related natural resources. And you don’t have to go at it alone. You have a partner, your local conservation district.
