Big Brothers Big Sisters of Puget Sound Names Alonda Williams as New President & Chief Executive Officer
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Puget Sound (BBBSPS) have named Alonda Williams as their new President and CEO, beginning a new chapter in the transformative work they do in their community.
A former Big Sister with the Big Brothers Big Sisters organization, Alonda brings first-hand experience to the position. Her strong personal commitment to youth development makes her a natural fit for the role.
Alonda was chosen because she is passionate about service and making a difference in her community by lifting up today’s youth. Her empowering perspective and personal drive will be a huge asset to BBBSPS as she works to help the next generation reach their full potential.
Alonda previously served as the SVP & Chief Experience Officer at YMCA of Greater Seattle. She speaks glowingly of her time there when she says, “My time at the Y has been full of global experiences, intellectual challenges and a lifetime of relationships - all while building a better community. I am forever changed for the good, because of the Y.” Previously, Alonda was employed at Microsoft as the Senior Director or Education Marketing before doing a stint at Bellevue College as their Head of Marketing. These experiences have equipped her to take on leadership roles where she is responsible for advancing initiatives for youth across all walks of life.
Throughout her professional career she has been heavily involved in volunteer work, serving on boards of organizations such as Urban League of Essex County, iUrban Teen, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, YMCA, and the Committee for Children. Alonda is also the Chapter of her local branch of Jack and Jill of America, working to nurture future leaders, provide educational development opportunities, and improve quality of life for area children. Her dedication to mentoring youth in her community is certainly evident in everything she does.
She completed her undergraduate work at Montclair State University before receiving her MBA from Rutgers University. She has also completed Executive Education programs in Leadership and Multicultural Leadership at UCLA Anderson’s School of Management and Customer Experience Management at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business.
About Big Brothers Big Sisters of Puget Sound
BBBSPS understands that it takes a village to raise kids and equip them for a bright future. Their vision is to help all youth achieve their full potential. With roots in the Puget Sound area for more than 60 years, they foster one-on-one mentorships between adult volunteers and youth aged 6-18. Their programs can be found in schools, workplaces, and community settings.
They aim to empower today’s kids to build a strong future for themselves and a stronger village for everyone around them as well across King and Pierce counties. And it’s working! Their data shows that kids matched who have been matched with a BBBSPS mentor for a year or more are doing better both personally and academically. They report better grades, have a 100% High School graduation rate, and increased expectations for their future beyond High School. They also have improved self-esteem and better relationships with loved ones.
