Kelly is committed to using an anti-bias, anti-racist lens and practices to advance equity for children and families through developing culturally responsive, strengths-based early learning services. Kelly’s experience includes leading early learning programs for Everett and Bellevue community colleges, Woodland Park Zoo, and most recently at Shoreline School District’s Edwin Pratt Early Learning Center. She brings context, curiosity, and an inclusive approach as a learner, leader, advocate, and community builder. “I’m honored to join and build on the legacy of PMCCP.” Said Kelly, “I value the school’s strong tradition of celebrating the wonder of childhood, the value of teachers, and the power of family and community.”
“My work is dedicated to creating more safety, justice and joy for all children and families, and for the early learning teachers who devote their lives to the field. There has always been plenty of work ahead to address historical and ongoing inequities and become the community our children deserve. Through the pandemic, children and families are experiencing trauma at unprecedented levels, as well as new kinds of short and long term disruption for which we as individuals and communities are underprepared. Still, although the journey ahead is not short or easy, I believe community-based solutions exist and want to be part of the work to discover them and put them in action.” About PMCCP Pike Market Child Care and Preschool’s overall goal is to make high-quality preschool available to all children and to provide families with support and encouragement. Children in our program enjoy healthy meals, receive excellent care, and build the social and learning skills necessary to succeed in kindergarten and beyond. Parents and guardians with children in our program have the opportunity to work, job search, or go to school confident with the knowledge that their children are safe and nurtured. PMCCP believes that development prospers in a program that supports children’s choices and play.
