![]() Seattle Against Slavery is excited to announce Crystal Rozelle-Bennett as its new Executive Director. Under the direction of the SAS Board of Directors and with input from SAS leadership and the assistance of Valtas, Crystal’s hiring concludes a months-long effort to find the best match to lead the nationally and regionally recognized progressive anti-trafficking organization. Crystal brings over two decades of experience to Seattle Against Slavery. For the past 25 years Crystal has been driven by her personal experiences of trauma to educate, advocate, and amplify the voices of individuals and communities in order to promote healing and opportunities to move from surviving to thriving. Crystal was the first in her family to attend college and earned a Bachelor’s in Arts in Psychology from Wells College, located in Aurora, NY. She went on to earn her Masters in Social Work from Florida State University and currently holds her LMSW.
During her career, Crystal has demonstrated a passion in sharing her experiences in order to help individuals heal from their personal traumas and work alongside professionals to create trauma informed, culturally inclusive and person-centered spaces. Her experiences include advocacy within the child welfare system, oversight of child and youth programs, crisis hotline response, delivery of community based mental health services and implementing trauma informed strategies and programs for school districts. She has been called upon to provide training, coaching and consultation across the nation in the subject areas of Human Trafficking, Suicide Prevention, Motivational Interviewing, Child Trauma & Maltreatment and Racial Trauma. She is a fierce advocate for social justice and leads courageously to dismantle oppressive systems and create equitable and just services, policies and programs. "After an extensive national search, we are so pleased to welcome Crystal as our new Executive Director,” said Christian Fulghum, President of Seattle Against Slavery Board of Directors. “Crystal is the right leader for Seattle Against Slavery as we prepare for major transformation and growth. We are excited about the knowledge and experience that Crystal brings to the organization and which will help us make progress towards our mission to end sexual exploitation in our communities through prevention, intervention, and transformation."
