The pandemic has challenged the dominant ways of thinking about place, space, and time in our personal and professional spheres as well as across the communities nonprofits serve. At the 2021 Washington State Nonprofit Conference we are excited to explore concepts of place, space, and time – inviting in different perspectives, uplifting innovative and adaptive stories from the field, and pushing our collective thinking and creativity. When May 17 to 21, 2021 Enjoy a week of virtual experiences and learning opportunities from May 17 to 21, 2021. Also, we hope you take advantage of the chance to learn as a team with our organizational rate. What can you expect from a virtual conference? Check out the Connector Special Edition! And we will have materials soon all about what’s in store during our conference, how to select where to spend your time during the conference week, and what a virtual conference will feel like. How and Why Not to "Do DEI" (Stephen Tan) This workshop will identify the reasons nonprofit organizations should or shouldn’t embark on initiatives to improve diversity, equity, and inclusion, and the characteristics of successful DEI initiatives. Participants will learn: • How to create the proper mindset and formulate the proper approach to any DEI initiative. • How to know when your organization is ready to undertake meaningful efforts to improve diversity, equity, and inclusion. • How to distinguish between effective and ineffective approaches to recruiting diverse candidates for staff or board positions. • Why any meaningful DEI initiative must involve all aspects of an organization’s governance practices, structure, programs, and culture. Stephen Tan of Valtas Group will be presenting May 20th 1:00 - 2:15 PM during this program. Register
When you register, you can look forward to being in a room of passionate, like-minded colleagues who are working to make the world a better place.
