Washington Environmental Council and Washington Conservation Voters Selects Alyssa Macy as CEO

After a thorough and inclusive search for a new CEO that yielded a diverse field of very strong candidates, it was recently announced that Alyssa Macy will be the new CEO of Washington Environmental Council and Washington Conservation Voters.

Alyssa brings a strong professional background in political action, social justice, and tribal leadership, grounded in a deep, personal connection to our land, our water, and the communities they sustain.

​Alyssa comes from the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs Reservation of Oregon, where she served as Chief Operations Officer for the tribal government. As COO she was responsible for managing a $35-million budget, and led strategic planning, communications, legislative policy, and fundraising efforts. 

Prior to her time at Warm Springs, Alyssa worked as the national political director for the Center for Civic Participation (National Voice) and has run multiple political campaigns, as well as running for school board herself. She has also raised funds for the Native Arts and Cultures Foundation and served as a tribal liaison to state governments.

WEC and WCV requires a leader who can bring communities together around complex environmental issues and use their combined strengths to prevail in a challenging political climate. Alyssa’s breadth of experience, proven leadership, and commitment to coalition building and authentic partnerships makes her the right person to lead WEC and WCV.

Alyssa’s first day in the office will be January 13th. With legislative session starting in January and an election in November, Alyssa will jump into these activities – and many more – with both feet.

Washington Conservation Voters (WCV), an IRS section 501(c)(4), is the statewide political voice for the environment helping ensure that all people in Washington state have a healthy environment and a strong, sustainable economy. WCV does this by working to elect environmentally responsible candidates to state and local offices. Working with others in the community, WCV advocates for strong environmental policies and holds elected officials accountable for their actions. Through its political work, WCV strengthens laws that safeguard the health of all communities, the beauty of the state and Washington’s economic future.
