We are pleased to announce that we have added Merica Whitehall, a skilled nonprofit leader, to our consulting team. She brings over 25 years of experience in empowering diverse teams across nonprofit community organizations to do their best work. Merica is a tireless champion for the integration of DEIJ into all levels of organizational culture, planning, and operations. Currently she is serving as a member of the Association of Nature Center Administrators DEI Committee to advance these initiatives on a national scale. Her areas of expertise include organizational operations, financial performance, infrastructure reinvestment, and strategic planning. Merica built her lengthy resume across numerous organizations, including:
She comes to us most recently from Fontenelle Forest in Bellevue, Nebraska where she served as the Executive Director for over four years. There she increased annual earned income by more than 300%, completed capital projects and land acquisitions in excess of $5M, and created a 20-year master plan to guide their future efforts. In addition to cultivating large individual donations and spearheading long-term planning, Merica improved staff engagement, increased public visibility, secured pivotal arts partnerships, and created greater financial independence for the organization. Merica has an Executive Master’s Degree in Nonprofit Leadership from Seattle University. After earning her degree, she joined the faculty as an adjunct professor to teach on the subject of community engagement as well as economic and social development for nonprofit organizations. In addition to her time teaching at the collegiate level, she led the Treehouse Tutoring Corps to provide ongoing academic support and mentoring to the Seattle community’s youth in foster care.
