Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County Brings on Dr. Supriya (Priya) Jayadev as New Executive Director8/5/2022
In speaking of her new role, Priya stated, My family and I have benefited tremendously from hospice services in the past, and I am excited to become part of an organization that has provided such invaluable end-of-life comfort and support for over 40 years. I hope to support and evolve Rose Crumb’s vision to provide free heartfelt end-of-life care in Clallam County. When discussing bringing Priya on board, Peter Raiswell (President of the VHOCC Board) said, She brings with her management experience in the nonprofit world as well as a successful business career. We are confident she can help lead our hospice forward as we continue to serve the palliative and hospice care patients of Clallam County. About Priya Priya has a BS in Biology from San Jose State University as well as a PhD in Cell Biology from Duke University. After graduating, she was an IRTA Fellow at the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences before going on to work for Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals in toxicology. After leaving the pharmaceutical industry she become the Executive Director of Clallam Mosaic, a local nonprofit that serves individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. In this leadership role, she increased visibility, expanded the budget, added new program offerings, and widened their reach to create a bigger impact. In addition to being highly driven and motivated in her work, Priya is also a great communicator and facilitator, working with those around her to affect change. In fact, a former colleague of hers at Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals said: Supriya is a high energy, innovative and results driven leader who continuously looks to get the team to the next level. She is globally and externally focused and looks to organize the right people with the right skills to accomplish objectives. She has strong analytical, collaborative and communication skills. They are the only program of their kind offering free, around-the-clock registered nurses and trained volunteers to take care of patients as they live out their final days. Their services provide comfort for not only the patients themselves but also their caregivers as well.
In addition to their primary hospice services, VHOCC also offers grief support in the community for anyone who has lost a loved one, medical equipment lending, and educational programs to normalize conversations around death.
