Equity and social justice have been at the very foundation of my vocation and life journey for the past 20 years. My personal and professional experience has been driven by the belief that the resources exist for all people to thrive, and public private partnership are critical to ensuring equitable access to housing, education and employment. On a deeply personal level, I know the impact of refugee resettlement. My father arrived to the United States as a refugee from Vietnam, and as the daughter of a refugee, I continue to learn the stories of my family and community. The mission and work of Tacoma Community House aligns perfectly with my life journey, professional experience and life work. I am honored to serve as the Executive Director of Tacoma Community House.  Hugo House is a Seattle-based organization that aims to provide a place for writers of all ages to come together to celebrate the written word. This year they celebrated their 25th anniversary as an organization and made an announcement that their current Interim Executive Director, poet Rob Arnold, would be leaving to lead Poets House, a Manhattan-based nonprofit poetry organization and independent library. His departure left the role of Interim Executive Director open as they continue to search for the right person to fill the role permanently. Meriça Whitehall, who had most recently been serving as the Interim Chief Operating Officer, was then named to fill the role. In speaking of change in leadership, Rob said, “I’ve worked very closely with Meriça these past few months while she served as our Interim Chief Operating Officer, and I can say with confidence that Hugo House couldn’t be better off. She’s truly marvelous.” He went on to say, It has been an honor to serve our community by leading Hugo House through its public reckoning with racial equity and helping to implement lasting change in our beloved organization. I know Hugo House will have a bright future with fresh leadership. We look forward to seeing the great things that will come from Huge House in the future as well!
After being with KMHS for four years, serving first as Development Director and later as CFO and then COO, Monica has accepted the board’s offer to move into the CEO role. In speaking about the opportunity Monica stated, “I'm really excited. The CEO prior to me, Joe Roszak, has left quite a legacy to follow. I don't see us doing something completely new. What I see us doing is really building on a lot of the great initiatives that have already started here.”
Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County Brings on Dr. Supriya (Priya) Jayadev as New Executive Director8/5/2022
 The Environmental Coalition of South Seattle (ECOSS) is pleased to announce that they have hired Dr. Chiyo Crawford as their next Executive Director. Chiyo’s extensive professional experience, personal background, and thoughtful leadership style make her an excellent fit for the role. ECOSS Board President, Tisha Pagalilauan, has stated, The Board is elated that Dr. Crawford will be the new executive director. We honor her experience as an educator, a leader, and an administrator. We have every confidence in her ability to lead ECOSS with vision and compassion. We congratulate them and wish them much success in all their future endeavors!
 We are excited to welcome Chris Cannon to our growing Executive Search Team. With over a decade of experience in the mission-driven sector, he brings a wealth of knowledge. In his early career he was an Executive Director of a growing nonprofit organization in Ghana. His experience in that role shaped his professional aspirations, leading him to a career in executive recruiting and nonprofit consulting, as well as giving him a passion for board leadership and volunteering.
 Former Island Senior Resources (ISR) Executive Director, Cheryn Weiser, leaves the organization after an impressive 12 years in the role, turning the reins over to Michele Cato to continue the great work ISR has come to represent. Michele is an experienced leader with a background in nonprofit management and health and wellness services as well as a passion for serving vulnerable populations.
When asked about her replacement, Cheryn has said, “Michele's deep commitment to community and her understanding of the complexities of social service will make her an excellent leader for ISR.” June Nailon, Island Senior Resources Board President reiterates this sentiment in saying, “ISR is incredibly fortunate in bringing talent dedicated to excellence in community nonprofit leadership and management to Island County.”  Community Homes, a housing provider in King County for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD), has selected Marci Muhlestein as their new Executive Director. In discussing her new role, Marci has said, It’s an honor to join the Community Homes team and pursue its mission of expanding unique housing options and providing exceptional housing education. Building strong partnerships within our collective communities increase choices and create opportunities for individuals on the path toward an inclusive, fulfilling life. At the end of the day, it’s the relationship with the individual as they become part of a community of their choice and create a safe place to thrive, enjoy life and be more independent. It’s about being part of their journey by simplifying the complexity of everyday experiences. |
